WHO WE ARE

Your Hunt at the Silvertine preserve is the place you will find that HUGE TROPHY ELK, MASSIVE CANADIAN WHITETAIL, or GIANT BISON you have always dreamed about. Our big game are free roaming on hundred’s of acres of heavily forest, diversified terrain, which makes your hunt a prime challenging experience. You will experience real hunting with a 100% GUARANTEED success rate, and every trophy will easily be eligible for the SCI record books. Ad that HUGE trophy elk, Deer, or Bison to your trophy room this year.

We are a husband and wife owned and operated facility, we understand that customer satisfaction is the key to our success. I am a hands on owner/outfitter and have been personally guiding my guests for over 20 years, and the few guides we have that help us are like family, and have been with us for many years. We take a minimum amount of hunters each year, with the maximum amount of hunters in camp at any one time being 4. We try to give each hunter or group of hunter’s exclusive use of the estate, with loads of ‘elbow room’. Our main goal is to provide a quality hunt experience, with top of the line trophy big game for each hunter. Our secondary goal is to offer you a comfortable modern rustic log cabin lodge, with a relaxed “homey” atmosphere, located inside the hunting area. We specialize in personal attention to each hunter, giving you, our guest, a great hunting experience and a feeling that you received more than your monies worth.

I would also like to point out that we choose our bull Elk and Deer for our guests out of combined herds of over 2000 animals. Only mature 8+ year animals are chosen based on antler spread, classic tine length and shape, and all our Bull Elk have dark capes, long beards and mature features. Our preserves are 100% forested; and have a wide diversity of mature timber, brush, springs, rolling hills, meadows, and creeks. This diversity provides a very challenging hunt and a spectacular setting to hunt in. The many wallows and dense conifer timber give our bull elk, and deer, the distinction of having the darkest antler color available anywhere, a rich chocolate brown, with highly polished tips, or “silver-tines” as we like to call them. The benefit is your lifelong enjoyment of the most spectacular elk mount in your trophy room you will ever see. Your experience will be a hunt, and not merely a shoot. Average shots are 20-40 yards and we specialize in archery and limited range weapons, but rifle enthusiasts are always welcome!

There is an exceptional quality hunt waiting for you and your hunting partner, a track record of 100% kill success to date, with a FULL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, and our trophy fees are very competitive and some of the lowest in Canada. You will return home with a quality hunt experience, and BIG trophies for the wall! Also Silvertine has four species of elk (Rocky Mtn., Roosevelt, Manitoban, and Siberian White Elk), Whitetail Deer, Mule deer, Plains and Wood Bison, 3 types of Wild Boar (Brown European, Black and Blond color phase Russian Boars) and Fallow Deer available to you as well. . After hunting with, us you’ll need more wall space!

Take a few minutes and check out our web-site to see the opportunities and adventure that awaits you. Please do not hesitate to call me anytime, I would be happy to discuss your needs, and to explain our hunts, services, and any reduced hunt specials we have, to best accommodate you as our guest this fall. A warm welcome awaits you at Silvertine.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

The creation of Silvertine was born from a decade of searching for the ultimate hunting environment, and has been one of my greatest passions. I am certain we have created an environment that will emphasize the ethical principles of hunting, one built on the policy of "Fair Chase", and a preserve that will create a memory of a lifetime. Your interests are my number one priority, and I want you to return again, and better yet, to tell your friends of about the great hunting experience you had with Silvertine!
My extensive 20 years of hands-on background in my hunting business has shown me exactly what the client is looking for in a preserve hunt. They want three simple criteria:

First and foremost, a realistic and challenging hunt in an environment that can duplicate "Fair Chase".

Quality services, from experienced and knowledgeable guides and staff, as well as top quality lodging and food

Quality animals that will exceed their expectations, never the other way around.

Challenging your wits against trophy game animals is what it's all about here at Silvertine. That's why we say...for the experience! We have been catering to clients from all over the world, and from a wide range of experiences, from first time hunters to the most experienced and worldly. We can tailor any hunt to any client's desire.

The second you walk in the door of our lodge you will feel totally at home and relaxed. Our brand of "Rustic" is what our hunting guests and families appreciate. Combine tasty meals with wonderful surroundings, and you have great camp life. It won't take you long to discover that we are delighted to have you as our guest. If you or someone in your party has special dietary requirements just let us know beforehand, and we will be happy to accommodate you. Breakfasts are quick and easy, and hunters have a choice of multiple flavoured muffins, cold cereals, instant oatmeal, toast, or bagels. Lunch is typically sandwiches and soup. Dinners are a variety of taste tempting, hearty ranch-style fare from famous elk and buffalo. The main cabin sleeps 5 people, and our second cabin sleeps 4 and is for guests or couples. The cabins are very warm, dry and comfortable. There is hot shower stalls in the main cabin with gravity feed heated water, a flush toilet. Due to the cold temperatures we have to close our showers and flush toilet down approximately November 1, after that it's an outhouse.

Wounded Game Policy
Wounded animals will be handled on a case by case basis. What is fair in one situation is not fair in another. It will be a judgment call between myself, the guide and the hunter as to whether a good effort was made to recover the animal, and to what degree the animal was wounded. In some cases, you may be asked to pay the trophy fee, and if the animal is recovered after you depart, the trophy will be shipped to you, or if the animal is harvested by a later hunter, your trophy fee will be refunded 100%. In cases where an animal poses a serious threat, the guides are instructed to finish the job or at least help out in the matter.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Rifle Hunters:
Rifle hunters entering Canada are required to declare their firearms when entering/leaving Canada. You can get the proper forms only from the Canadian Firearms Centers web-sit at http://www.cfc.ccaf.gc.ca. There is a $50.00 Canadian fee. Bows and crossbows are exempt.

Meat and Trophy Care
Silvertine's experienced staff will handle all your meat and trophy requirements.
All meat is recovered from the preserve using quads. The meat is taken back to the lodge, cleaned, and hung in the meat house, ready to be prepared by a meat processor. With prior arrangements, hunters have the option of taking meat home that is pre-possessed at an additional cost.
Importing Meat to U.S.A.
For those hunters that wish to return home with their bounty of meat from their Big Game animals at the conclusion of the hunt, we provide all the necessary export permits and paperwork. This is all included in the "Preserve Fee". All elk, deer, Boar, and Bison meat are allowed to be drought into the USA with proper paperwork from us.

Taxidermy Services
Steve Rahn is also a renowned taxidermist. During the winter months he further delights his hunting customers by serving their taxidermy needs. Hunters have the option of leaving their trophies with him to ship or mount, or take back their packaged capes to their taxidermist at home. Many airlines will not allow you to travel with large antlers, so check with your flight company before traveling. We can handle shipping of trophies to anywhere in the world. Taxidermy services not included in hunt packages.

Gratuities
Tipping the guides and staff is part of well managed services. It is industry standard that guests tip 10-15% of their total hunt cost. The majority of the tip going to your guide, and the remainder being split up between other staff that assisted in your hunt. If you do not feel your guide deserved a tip, please let us know.
